March 4, 2025

We are in what one friend calls rollercoaster time as far as the weather is concerned - it was sixty degrees here in Overland Park yesterday, and today it is pouring rain. We have a blizzard warning for tonight, and a forecast of sixty-two degrees on Saturday. The weather cannot make up it’s mind!

I’m ready to get outside and work in the garden. I already have seeds planted in my grow room. Cauliflower and Impatiens. Everything is off to a bit of a slow start, but my greenhouse plan is up and ready to go! I’m just waiting for March to come. Look here in a few weeks for my outdoor gardening page!

What do you like to cook when things warm up? During the winter it was soups and stews, something hearty with a big hunk of meat as the base. Now that spring is coming I am starting to think about fresher fare - last Sunday it was Pesto Chicken Pasta. Not fresh pesto though I am afraid - I don’t have any basil going yet! But that will happen soon.

I’m working on a recipe for grilled salmon with teriyaki sauce and will have that up in a few days!

I’m a homegrown chef and backyard grower. I like to cook what I like to eat, everything from game-time party snacks to quick and easy weeknight meals, and every so often, something big!

Enjoy!
